Director. Photographer.
This is a preview of a documentary, traveling exhibition about my parents who left their small town in Mexico with their four kids to start a new life in the U.S. They would raise their eight children in a two-bedroom home in California’s rural Central Valley. This story is also about the Mexican-American Dream. Unlike the American Dream that is centered on the belief that if you work hard you will succeed, the Mexican-American Dream is based on the hope that if you work hard, your kids might have a better future.
This project mixes archival and verite footage. I hope that this is living testimony that the Mexican-immigrant story is not a new one. We've been here all along, raising children, building communities and fighting for our rights. Our stories have always existed.
